About Yiddish Now!
Yiddish Now! follows a singular path: writing new Yiddish songs today, not to imitate the past but to carry its momentum forward. The project blends the Yiddish language with swing and the colors of Parisian jazz, shaped by musicians who each bring their own sensibility.
The result is a warm, living sound where tradition and creation speak to one another with ease.

About swing and Yiddish music
Swing and Yiddish music have met before. In the late 1930s, radio programs such as Yiddish Melodies in Swing brought Yiddish lyrics into the world of jazz and swing, creating a lively blend that resonated with audiences across generations.
The Barry Sisters and the Andrew Sisters, among the most celebrated performers of this style, helped carry Yiddish swing to international audiences. Their recordings showed how Yiddish expression could captivate listeners far beyond its community roots. Songs like Bay mir bistu sheyn even became global hits, demonstrating how naturally this musical meeting could travel across cultures.
This album follows in the footsteps of that tradition while bringing its own voice to the story.
